Art Ceilidh is a Mikhail Smirnov's and Sergei Klevensky's project. Mikhail Smirnov is a well known Russian composer, a talented musician, and also a producer. Sergei Klevensky - a flute player, BBC Music Awards nominant (world music). Art Ceilidh' music incorporates influences considered "Celtic" and unites in itself the folk traditions of the western and eastern Europe together with the author's compositions; it immediately drew attention of the admirers of the world music. Art Ceilidh gives concerts in the known Moscow halls and public always accepts them with delight. At the beginning Art Ceilidh based their repertoire mainly on the Celtic tradition, but eventually moved apart from the musical framework in attempt to give their music new and interesting scent. The repertoire of Art Ceilidh combines the diverse folklore intonations from ethnic to jazz, thus forming the group's own recognizable style. The group name speaks by itself: the spirit of tradition - the Ceilidh. The constant participants of the project are Michael Smirnov: vocal, keyboards, accordion, and Sergei Klevensky: clarinet, whistles, bagpipes . These two invite the brightest and most interesting musicians, whose main interests are in the folklore music, as this results in a new interesting sound. For the first time abroad Art Ceilidh, together with Ivan Smirnov, the best acoustic russian guitarist, have presented the program named "At the other end of the world" at the Edinburgh festival Fringe'99 in Scotland and it was a real success. As a result came the Collection of Celtic music, an album CELTOMANIA, produced by Michael Smirnov, label SKETIS, in the frame of a project "All Tribes". CELTOMANIA united three groups: Art Ceilidh, Si Mhor and Telenn Gwad. The disk is a manifestation of syncretic tendency, and presents several compositions played in the traditional manner together with electric-acoustic avant-guard fusion. Listen to a song .
